Deputy Head of Secondary Teaching and Learning
Dear Parents
Welcome back to a brand new school year! A big warm welcome goes out to all our new families and students joining us.
We're off to a great start in 2024, with the academic year kicking off smoothly. It's been fantastic to see most students settling in well, with only a few needing to tweak their subject selections. This sets a positive tone for the year ahead!
Let's dive into some important dates and activities lined up for Term 1:
Year 7 - 12 Parent and Student Information Evenings:
These took place in Weeks 2, 3, and 4 and were fantastic opportunities for us to share valuable information and connect with our school families.
Year 7 Learning Journey:
Our first Learning Journey is scheduled for Tuesday 26 March 2024. Parents are invited to visit the Year 7 Centre to get an inside look at their child's experiences and visit their classroom. It's a wonderful chance to celebrate your child's achievements and demonstrate your support for their learning journey. More details will be sent home with students closer to the date.
Year 12 Study Evenings:
Directed Private Study sessions for Year 12 students began on Tuesday 27 February 2024. These sessions run from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Years 11 and 12 Subject Changes:
Remember, Year 12 students have until Thursday 28 March 2024, and Year 11 students have until Friday 2 May 2024, to make any changes to their subjects. After these dates, changes won't be possible as the School Curriculum and Standards Authority database will be locked.
Years 11 and 12 Parent and Teacher Meetings:
Scheduled for Tuesday 19 March 2024. Parents, if you have any concerns about your child's progress, don't hesitate to book appointments with their teachers. We also encourage students to attend these meetings.
I would also like to remind parents to make sure they can log in to SEQTA Engage and become familiar with it. This platform is regularly updated with course and assessment information, along with links to our School’s Careers website and other important documents.
The 2024 WACE Manual is now available on the SCSA Website. It's a valuable resource providing information about Senior Secondary Schooling. I strongly recommend all families take the time to read through it.
I'm looking forward to collaborating with you and your children throughout 2024.
Kind regards
Anne Crock
