Dear Parents and Carers

As you are well aware, Term 2 is coming to a close and the Semester holidays are in sight.

Our Year 12 students have completed their Semester One examinations, and have already started working on the Semester 1 units. The Year 8 – 11 students are in the middle of completing their examinations.  So, all in all, a very busy time for all.

Semester Reports
Semester 1 Reports for Years 12 will be available in SEQTA at 4.00 pm, Friday 23 June 2023.
Reports for Year 7 – 11 students will be available in SEQTA at 4.00 pm, Friday 30 June 2023.

Parents will need to log in to SEQTA Engage to be able to view their child’s/children’s Semester 1 Report. Parents who need help logging in to SEQTA need to contact the IT Helpdesk.

Parent/Teacher Interviews for Years 9 and 10
Years 9 and 10 Parent-Teacher interviews will be on Tuesday 8 August 2023. (Week 3 of Term 3)
Year 10 parents are encouraged to use this opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss suitable subject selections for Year 11.

Year 11 2024 Subject Selections
So that we can assist you and your child with the process of selecting subjects for Year 11, we have the following steps in place:

Term 2

  • All Year 10 students have been allocated to a Head of Department who will undertake a counselling role to assist students to work through the selection process. Heads of House may also assist with this process;
  • In the last week of term, counsellors will make contact with students to let them know when they will be meeting;
  • Subject pre-requisites and recommendations must be followed when students consider their subject selections. Students will use their Semester 1 results to determine whether they meet the prerequisite for a subject.

Term 3

  • During the holidays, students need to complete a Subject Selection Workbook, which they then take to their meeting with their allocated Counsellor. These workbook; will be distributed in the last week of Term Two.
  • Specialist and core subject teachers will provide students with information relevant to specific subjects. Students need to discuss their selections with relevant teachers so teachers can indicate whether or not the student has met the prerequisite for the subject.
  • Parent/Teacher interviews Week 3. This is an opportunity for parents to meet with teachers and discuss selections.

Week 5 Term 3

Students complete selections.
Due date Thursday 24 August 2023.
At any stage during this time, parents and students can also make an appointment to meet with Mrs Bailey, Careers Advisor.

It is very important that students heed their teacher’s recommendations and choose subjects that they are going to enjoy studying and do well in. The more questions they ask the better their choices will be.

Year 11 subject selection is an exciting time for students and I encourage parents to become involved in the process with their child. Every effort is made to provide all students with their subject requests, however if this is not possible then a child may need to re-select.

Please contact me at any time if you have a query or concern.
