Fantastic Year 5/6 Hockey Team
This year sees a fantastic group of Year 5/6 students join to play hockey together for the first time, after not having a team represent Frederick Irwin in 2021.
The team includes three Year 5 students and eight Year 6 students, many of whom had never played hockey before. In a short time, they have really developed their skills and have been having fun together on and off the field. This is a credit to their two amazing Year 12 coaches, Tess Rafferty and Adriaan Van Zyl, who give up their time for training and games each week. They both have a calm and committed approach to teaching hockey skills but also focus on teaching the players to enjoy the game.
The players represent Frederick Irwin Anglican School well, demonstrating enthusiasm and team spirit, despite often having players missing each week due to COVID. Each week they volunteer to have a go at goalie and have fun wearing the goalkeeper kit.
We are also lucky to have fantastic parent support and look forward to the remainder of the season!
