Halls Head Campus - Welcome to Our New Story Dog Team, Camille and Monty!

School News Tuesday, 28 Mar 2023

Frederick Irwin Anglican School Halls Head Campus is very excited to have a new Story Dogs team, Camille and Monty, visit our school this year. Camille and Monty will be visiting every Monday to help some of our Year 2 students with their reading.

The Story Dogs program partners with teachers to help students with their reading. Camille and Monty will help four selected students each week. The students will come out of their classroom and sit one-on-one with Camille and read to Monty. Monty is a great listener and will not mind if the student makes a few mistakes, he just wants to have a fun time so that reading becomes a joyful experience.

Monty loves looking for crabs and fish in the estuary or down on the beach. He also loves having jumpers and coats on in winter. Monty is super excited about coming to school and he has been practicing at home with his reading rug and books so he will be ready to help students.

We ask that all parents and children do not interrupt or attempt to pat Monty. We do not want him to be distracted from his important job. If you are interested in volunteering in this rewarding program, please contact Amanda Milroy on 0417 993 497.
