This morning, Year 3 to Year 12 students, staff and distinguished guests joined together to celebrate the Commissioning our new Kwobadiny Sports Centre.

Starting with a fast-paced scale up the new rock-climbing wall by Year 12, Hugo Young (five times WA State Rock Climbing Champion), and Health and Physical Education Teacher, Mr Kevin Watson, our Official Party processed into the Ceremony.

Our Cultural Prefect, Naomi Tarossa, welcomed Mr George Walley, Traditional Owner of this Land, Elder and Local Community Leader to give the Welcome to Country. Mr Walley was also instrumental in the naming of our new Sports Centre, and he explained the meaning behind it during his speech to the audience.

Our School Chaplain, Reverend Canon James Tabor, followed with an Opening Prayer, before Mrs Tracey Gray’s Welcome Address. Thank you to Prefect Jaimie Sewell for doing the Reading, to our Head Girl Shiloh Carmody for introducing the School Hymn, and our Head Boy Sam Sieracki for leading the School Prayer.

Thank you to our talented musical students Emily Tamplin, Sam Rutherfurd, Heather Crisp, Hudson Merema, and our Secondary Vocal Ensemble for providing such wonderful musical performances this morning.

A special thank you to The Right Reverend Ian Coutts, Bishop of Bunbury, and The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM, CEO of the Anglican Schools Commission, for their Blessings, Addresses and Unveiling of the Plaque for the Commissioning.

Chair of the Frederick Irwin Anglican School Council, Mrs Judy Sparkes also addressed the crowd, after being presented with a framed gift for the Buildings and Grounds Committee for all their work on the Kwobadiny Sports Centre. Thank you to Mr Rhys Channing, Theatre Technician, and PSI Audio for their fantastic work on the audio visual presentation.

Following the Commissioning, distinguished guests were invited for a special morning tea and tour of the new Centre. Our Kindergarten to Year 2 students then enjoyed their own special Commissioning with Mr Noah Clark and Mrs Sue Youens leading the Service.

It was a such wonderful morning, and we thank our students, staff and guests for attending!
