Meet the Staff - Will Byas, Health and Physical Education Teacher
Frederick Irwin Anglican School Health and Phys Education Teacher Will Byas, pictured here with our ACC Hockey Team, has worked here for a year, after graduating as a UWA Graduate.
What do you love about teaching?
What I love about teaching – watching the amount that kids can develop in such a small space of time. That every child is different and all learn in their own ways. Aiming to accommodate each child in the class and allow them all to succeed and flourish.
What were you like at school?
I was a middle of the road academic. I worked hard, aimed to please but wasn’t outstanding on that front by any means. I was a sport enthusiast and participated in as much Inter-School sport as possible. Rugby and football (proper football – soccer) in Term 1, Hockey in Term 2 and then cricket and tennis in Term 3.
What is something we might not know about you?
I’ve represented Great Britain at Hockey to Under 21 level where we won silver at the Australian Youth Olympics in Sydney 2013. I was also a part of the England Under 21s at the Junior World Cup in India. I have played and represented WA Thundersticks in the Australian Hockey League in 2018 and the Hockey One competition in 2019.
Thanks Will, we love learning something different about the amazing teachers at FIAS!
