Secondary Swimming Results

Sports Updates Tuesday, 05 Mar 2024

On Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 February, Week 3, in some very hot conditions, we held our annual Inter-House Swimming Carnivals at the Mandurah Aquatics Centre. The MARC is an excellent facility and we appreciated the support of the staff from the MARC.

Both secondary carnivals proved very successful, highlighted by some excellent participation during the 25m events for those less experienced in competitive swimming and some impressive skills demonstrated by our elite swimmers during the 50m races.

Once again, the Year 12 House Captains and Vice Captains made a significant contribution to the days and are to be commended on their leadership, encouragement and support of other students at both carnivals.

A feature of this year’s carnival was some extremely close racing amongst our more talented swimmers, especially during the Medley Relays, which saw four new records set.

The following records were set in the 50m events:

  • Year 9 Female 4x50m Medley Relay 1:18.28 – Barrett
  • Year 10 Male 4x50m Medley Relay 1:07.36 – Jamieson
  • Year 11 Female 4x50m Medley Relay 1:16.59 – Arnold
  • Year 12 Male 4x50m Medley Relay 1:09.63 – Arnold
  • Year 7 Female 50m Butterfly 37.56 – Sophie Osment
  • Year 7 Male 50m Butterfly 32.69 – Alexander Vreeken
  • Year 9 Female 50m Freestyle 29.27 – Megan Maley

In the end, after many fantastic individual and team performances and some very tired students it was time to add the points.

Gordon House were successful in winning their first Inter-house shield since 2003 and only their 3rd time ever, so an awesome effort to Mr Byas and the ‘Green Machine’.

Over all points for the Inter-house Swimming Carnival – Secondary, Years 7 - 12.

  • Gordon 1775
  • Arnold 1683
  • Rose 1538
  • Jamieson 1349
  • Barrett 1296.5
  • Ellis 1092.5

So Congratulations to all the students and staff of Gordon House in winning the Inter-House Swimming Carnival – Secondary for 2024.
