Staff Spotlight - Community Citizen of the Year

Our own VET Advisor, Ms Peta Sattler, was recently acknowledged at the Shire of Murray Citizenship Awards, named the Community Citizen of the Year in recognition of her efforts in establishing the Bush Fire Cadet program in Coolup.
The small town of Coolup (approx. 400 residents) does not have resources for children in the way of sports teams or clubs that are close to home.
Peta encourages and facilitates the Cadets to volunteer at multiple community events throughout the district annually. They have attended state cadet camps in Northam and DFES camps. Since 2016 Peta has led 8 Cadets to successfully transfer into active fire fighters.
We are very lucky to have such a wonderful person as part of our teaching staff.
