Winter Sport Soccer Update: FIAS Rays
FIAS Rays have had a successful first half of the season in the PJSA Junior High Competition. A squad of 13 players with a variety of previous experiences have pulled together strongly. The standout areas from the coaching perspective have been their outstanding work ethic, support of each other on and off the field and their willingness to learn and be coached. They have developed into a tight unit and most of all are showing the qualities of humility and fair play.
The team is built on a strong defensive foundation, where they play with discipline and poise. They work hard and earn the right to control the ball on the field and once we have the ball, there is talent, guile and blistering pace that makes the team exciting to watch. The team has scored 66 goals in 7 games conceding only 7 goals so far! 11 of the players have managed to score at least one goal, which shows the contribution of the team overall.
There have been some outstanding performances from the team up to now and I must give a special mention to George, Cameron and Paul, who have been sharing the goalkeeping duties for the team. The sum of the parts is greater than any one player!
We are looking forward to an exciting second half of the season.
