Year 12 Geography Incursion with Eco Action
The Geography Year 12 students had an incursion with Laura Falon from Eco Action in Week 7.
They conducted an investigation on macro invertebrates in various water samples to determine levels of biodiversity of macroinvertebrates in the Perth Peel region. The students are learning how urban growth and habitat destruction is resulting in biodiversity loss in the local area.
They also had a presentation about Native Bees and their role in the ecosystem. The Geography Course teaches the students the impacts of invasive species such as the European Honey Bee on Native Bee species.
The students constructed 'Bee Hotels' for their own gardens which will assist the reproduction of native bees in the region.
